Mark MacDonald

January 13, 2016- Barrie, ON: Within Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are a tremendous amount of influential athletic leaders whom we wish to recognize.  These exceptional staff members contribute to a competitive, vibrant, safe and fair athletic experience for our student-athletes.

From St. Theresa’s Catholic High School, we wish to recognize Mark MacDonald.  "Mark is a dedicated educator and coach who tirelessly provides opportunities for students to pursue athletic achievements with a focus on fun, friendship and physical fitness," states Vice Principal Scot Gorecki.

Mark has contributed greatly to the Thunder Cross Country Running, Nordic Skiing, Track and Field, and Mountain Biking teams.  Every fall season, Mark organizes the Little Lake Cross Country Running meet for students competing in the Simcoe County area.  This past season, Mark was a key member of the OFSAA Cross Country Running Organizing Committee.

Since coming to St. Theresa’s from St. Ann’s twelve years ago, Co-Curricular Chairperson Cullen Fay says, “His patience and concern for our student-athletes is what stands out most. He spends tons of time not only coaching, but doing race entries, organizing meets, and promoting sport in our school, community and across the province.”

Leading his student-athletes by example, Mark lives a life full of adventure and outdoor activities.  When attending the University of Guelph, Mark was a member of the Gryphons Cross Country Running team.

Mark, thank you for your outstanding athletic leadership!
