Dan Blum- St. Dominic C.S.S.Within the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are a tremendous amount of influential athletic leaders whom we wish to recognize.  These exceptional staff members contribute to a competitive, vibrant, safe and fair athletic experience for our student-athletes.

From St. Dominic Catholic Secondary School in Bracebridge, we celebrate the outstanding efforts of Dan Blum.  Dan has more than 30 years of service in education and coaching. Since 1999, he has worked at St. Dominic C.S.S., and been an inspirational mentor to both staff and students.

Colleague and Vice Principal, Joe Conway, shared, “As Physical Education and Co-Curricular Chairperson since 2000, Dan has had many successes coaching Hockey, Volleyball, Soccer, Badminton and Golf.  Along the way, he has convened numerous Muskoka and Parry Sound (MPS) athletic championships, as well as Georgian Bay Secondary School Association (GBSSA) Championships.  In addition, as Head Instructor for the Hockey Canada Skills Academy (HCSA), Dan has been instrumental in laying the foundation of the program which serves the entire MPS community”.

“Dan also coaches hockey in the community and has coached at various levels from Novice to Jr. A.  During this time he has coached several OMHA championship teams.  On March 25, 2017, his South Muskoka Bantam BB Bears won the OMHA Championship. This was his fourth All-Ontario Championship as a hockey coach.  Dan's extensive resume with the game of hockey includes many years of playing in minor hockey, Jr. B and four years of playing varsity hockey with the University of Waterloo Warriors where he was Captain of the team in his final year,” explained Conway.
